Long Melody is a print derived from a 5-metre section of Liz West’s 2020 large-scale wall-based artwork Our Melody Unwound, which is a permanent site-specific piece spanning across the atrium walls of the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre in Liverpool.
‘When I first made the Our Melody Unwound installation specifically for the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre in Liverpool, it was a huge challenge to create 90 linear meters of artwork to cover the atrium walls, with no part of the work ever repeating itself. The balance between the coloured shards and the white space was crucial, as from a distance this reads as a flash of white light. When scaled down to the size of a print, the artwork becomes like a little jewel, an intense and undulating balance of vibrant hues to enjoy on a domestic scale.’
This limited edition print by Liz West is signed and numbered by the artist on the frame fillet, and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Produced on Somerset Satin paper, the artwork comes presented shadow-mounted on a Photo White mountboard, in a bespoke white painted ash, recessed box frame.
