Inter-Play

Installation (mirror, acrylic)
Dimensions Variable
2024

Inter-Play is conceived as a space that transports the viewer into an otherworldly environment and instigates an immediate sense of wonder. Using multiple stripes of coloured acrylic to make a kaleidoscopic tunnel, this vivid work is an intimate but dazzling and illusory encounter. Reflections build upon other reflections within this multicoloured and multi-sensory vortex, aiming to slow people down and heighten their sensory awareness. Playing on ideas of interplay, interactivity, intersecting; this work builds on previous successful installations whereby West has used a combination of light, colour and reflective/refractive materials to create interactive and immersive installations.

Inter-Play was commissioned for ‘Chroma: The Colours of Liz West’ at Farol Santander, São Paulo, Brazil, 2024.
