Colour Pleats is a series of drawings (ink on paper) made to imagine new sculptural works. They depict ideas for architectural installation artworks that might not be physically possible to construct or inhabit in real life.
On paper, I am free to let my mind wander without the limitations of engineering or the constraints of materials. These drawings are for a collection of highly saturated zig-zag walkways made in different colour palettes: multicoloured, warm tones and cool tones. One day, they could be used as proposals for artworks that might exist in a gallery/museum space or within the public realm.
During the drawing process, I thought about the relationship between different colours and if these ideas were to be brought to life in the three-dimensional realm, what it might feel like to be immersive within these colourways. The world would be saturated and tinted through these vibrant colours to allow a rich and diverse experience.
This vibrant limited edition print by Liz West is signed and numbered by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Produced on textured Hahnemuhle paper, the print is finished with hand-torn edges and an embossed stamp.
